Akhil Kumar

Partner & CCO

Akhil Kumar, co-founder, partner, and Chief Operating Officer at Arch Global Advisors, embodies the quintessential American narrative – an enterprising immigrant who moves to the United States to shape a new life, achieve success, and contribute to his community. Born in Kolkata (Calcutta), India, Akhil, driven by a vision for a better future, arrived in the United States at age 19. “When you’re nineteen years old in a new county and with no parents around, you have to make all your own decisions,” Akhil says. “You learn from your mistakes very quickly, and as a result you mature more quickly.”

Graduating from Manhattanville College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics, finance, and management, Akhil began to master the intricacies of wealth transfer and production. His minor in psychology provided a deeper understanding of human behavior, a skill set that proved invaluable as he navigates the financial landscape at Arch Global Advisors. “Financial advisors need to rely on numbers and analytics but must also understand what makes people tick and what motivates them,” he says.

Akhil’s financial career commenced at Worldwide Asset Management in New York City, where he also met his friend and future business partner, Sheraz Iftikhar. Their friendship culminated with the establishment of Arch Global Advisors.

The dynamic duo, representing both Indian and Pakistani heritage, embarked on an entrepreneurial pursuit, growing the firm primarily through referrals and community involvement. Their success story is rooted in the principles of creating value, forming relationships, and adapting to the ever-changing financial landscape. The goal was to always focus on creating value for their clients; to assure them that someone was always watching over their portfolio—someone who was focused on their well-being and best interests.

His Background:

Residing in Rye, New York, with his wife Kristin and their two children, Akhil’s personal and professional journey intertwines, reflecting a commitment to family, community and the shared success of clients and colleagues alike.

That and a deep connection with his clients. “Like a lot of them, I am raising a family, I am trying to provide a better life for my kids. My life experience informs the way I work with them. I want us all to succeed.”

Fun Fact:

A skilled golfer, Akhil was fortunate to fulfill a long-held dream of playing golf at the collegiate level as a member of the men’s varsity golf team at Manhattanville College. He continues to play and utilizes his passion and proficiency for the game at fund-raising golf events he will often help organize, the beneficiaries of which are local and national charities.
