Paris Riha
Wealth Manager
Paris Riha recognizes that each client has unique needs—not to mention different views on their work lives. “Some want to retire as soon as they can, and some want to keep working at age 78,” she says.
Regardless, Paris’s role as wealth manager at AGA remains multi-faceted. It involves working closely with clients, developing their financial plans, creating a path toward clients’ achieving their financial goals through asset management, and working with families to build generational wealth.
She is enthusiastic about her clients forging their own path to success, helping them get their children through college, and giving them the moxie and savvy to plan their future. “If you listen carefully to your clients, you’ll learn about their viewpoint towards money and where they want to be 10 and 20 years in the future,” she says. “Then we can plan accordingly.”
At an independent firm like AGA, Paris has time to listen and to offer to her clients the kind of “white glove” customer service the firm is proud of. The smaller, more intimate atmosphere also encourages close collaboration. Paris uses the analogy of a human cardiovascular system to describe how the staff of AGA interacts. “Our firm is like a pumping heart, where every individual serves an important role as either an artery or vein to keep it functioning,” she says. “Everyone gets together to get the heart beating again if a problem arises.”
An entertaining and informative LinkedIn presence has become part of the AGA brand—recent posts have given shout-outs to College Savings Month, National Retirement Security Week and National Financial Awareness Day, (not to mention the Westminster Kennel Club dog show—a post that included photos of the AGA staff’s pets). Who is behind these clever posts? None other than Paris, in her second AGA role as marketing manager.
Her Background:
It is fitting that Paris employs a medical comparison in describing the dynamics of the AGA team. A native of Manhattan’s Upper East Side and Mill Neck, Long Island, she initially envisioned a career in medicine. She graduated Duke University with honors and distinction in neuroscience and then attended medical school in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
While in Buenos Aires, Paris soon realized that her love for numbers and graphs, translated not only to the medical field but also to economics. She then had an epiphany. “I realized that I could probably help people more in finance than in a hospital.”
She moved back to New York to work as a junior financial advisor at AXA Financial, later took classes in economics at Harvard Business School and is now a rising star at AGA.
Fun Fact:
Paris is Bilingual in Spanish. She loves to travel the world and considers Argentina a second home after living there for 5 years. Paris is a fan of the Rangers and enjoys golf and tennis. She is also an active community member of the Duke Alumni Admissions Advisory Committee.
